Soft Sugar Cookies


Sift:

3 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Add:
1/2 cup soft butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla or nutmeg
Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
Add:
1/2 cup thick sour cream

Preheat oven to 375-400F degrees.
Beat at low speed until well blended (1 1/2 minutes).
Roll out lightly on floured board to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut and sprinkle with sugar.
Put on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake about 12 minutes at 375-400 degrees.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter - softened
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tb milk
4 cups powdered sugar
cool food coloring

mmmm boy! I made some sugar cookies the other day, they taste great but are hard as rocks. :) but softened up a little with the frosting. Will try this recepie!Thanks!
